There are sequels that disappoint, sequels that live up to the original, and then there are those rare sequels that manage to outshine their predecessors. Extraction 2 falls into that last category. This was not a sequel we necessarily asked for, considering the first movie was good on its own, but it's certainly a sequel we are glad to have received.

The volume of action this time around has been notably pumped up. From car chases to awesome choreographed fight scenes, every moment is a thrilling spectacle. The relentless pace at which the action unfolds gives the audience an intoxicating rush that is both intense and exhilarating. I feel that the continuation of this franchise took a page out of John Wick as the main character, Tyler, was presumed dead when the credits rolled in the first film. At times this trope can feel cheap and/or shoehorned, with all franchises resurrecting their big characters as a cash grab, but this movie makes you forgive this fault and rewards you with gritty and heart-pounding action.

In terms of the cast, it is a disappointment that Idris Elba had limited screen time and was underutilized. A man of his acting prowess, one would hope to see more of him. Hopefully we see Elba’s character return if there are future installments of this franchise.

Now let's turn our attention to Chris Hemsworth, who reprises his role as the rugged and relentless mercenary, Tyler Rake. His performance in Extraction 2 is a testament to his ever-expanding range as an actor, proving he can carry a high-octane action movie with the same charisma and gravitas he has previously brought to other roles. Hemsworth offers a spectacular performance that drives the narrative forward and keeps the audience glued to their couch.

In conclusion, if you liked the first Extraction, you will love Extraction 2. This sequel goes above and beyond to deliver an action-packed, thrilling experience that is sure to captivate both fans of the first film and newcomers alike. We can only hope for future installments (I believe there are rumblings for a third installment). I don’t tend to care much about Netflix films but this one is definitely worth the watch on the biggest and loudest screen in your house. This one may be worth the 20 bucks for the monthly subscription to watch. This movie is Miko approved, 8/10.
